Steelhead Count Nearly Doubles in Two Days

The early winter steelhead count almost doubled in just two days. There were 446 fish that passed upstream over the 48 hour period, with most of the migration occurring in the afternoon. There were hours when the steelhead count was a fish every 2 or 3 minutes using the fish ladder without any delay to reaching the upper North Umpqua basin for spawning in the next few months. The updated total count is 1,061 as of yesterday.
